Mrs. Payne obtained her Bachelor's degree from Loma Linda University and completed the teacher credential program at Pacific Oaks College. She taught for Los Angeles Unified School District before teaching at White Memorial Adventist School and now at Glendale Adventist Elementary.

Mrs. Payne is married to Matthew Payne, also a teacher at Glendale Adventist Elementary. They have two children and reside in Montrose.
